Veterinary Acupuncture

Why should I choose Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) for my animal?  What conditions can it treat?

The combined modalities in TCVM can help many different issues, like:

SKIN ISSUES:  Is your animal itchy?   Does he or she have a poor quality hair coat or dandruff?  Have they been diagnosed with allergies, either seasonal, environmental or food related?

Because TCVM looks at the individual animal’s pattern, any of these conditions can be helped  with its use, especially when used alongside conventional therapies.  TCVM can help to decrease the a! mount of medications needed or in some cases, enable them to be stopped altogether.

SEIZURES:  Does your animal have seizures?  According to TCVM these all stem from the Liver (which has similar actions to how we think of the liver in conventional medicine, but also has other jobs as well).  Addressing the Liver with TCVM can help reduce t! he severity and frequency of seizures and again decrease the amount of medication required for treatment.

PARALYSIS AND WEAKNESS:  If you animal has an injury to his or her spine and has difficulty walking or cannot walk, TCVM can help improve their mobility again.  In this ! case the use of Electroacupuncture, which uses a low voltage of energy through the needles, is very beneficial.

TUMORS Whether small or large, cancerous or benign, TCVM can sometimes help reduce the size of masses, both tho! se inside and outside the body.  Herbal therapy is most beneficial in these cases.

ANXIETY AND OTHER BEHAVIORAL ISSUES:  Is your animal afraid of its own shadow?  Do thunderstorms and other loud noises scare them beyond measure?  In TCVM these conditions are treatable using all of the modalities under the TCVM umbrella.

KIDNEY AND LIVER DISEASE:  Has your&nbsp! ;animal been diagnosed with kidney or liver disease?  TCVM has been proven to help improve Kidney and Liver function as evident on the animal’s blood work.

Also, here are MORE conditions that can benefit from treatment:

·        Vomiting and diarrhea

·        Fertility problems

·        Lameness and arthritis

·        Back pain, including weakness and paralysis

TCVM can be used at the same time as conventional medicine and may help to reduce the dosage of medications needed, prevent and or treat any side effects of the medication or make conventional treatment more effective.  It can also be used in place of conventional treatment when unwanted side effects or risks are possible.long as she can remember and they have always been part of the family.  She started horseback riding at a young age and her love for animals ! grew.
