As pet owners, we all hope our pets are two things: happy and healthy. When your pet eats well, they feel well. Nutrition counselling is a great way to learn what your pet’s body needs and what works best for them. Our team is here to help you create nutritional habits tailored to your pet’s individual needs and lifestyle. To book an appointment or learn more about our services, call us at 403-242-0045.
How does nutrition counselling work?
To maintain your pet’s health, they must receive all the necessary nutrients. When you leave a nutritional counselling session, you leave with tools and information to help you meet all your pet’s individual dietary needs. Knowing what to feed your pet can be challenging, but that’s where we come in. We’ll start by getting background information from you about their current diet, eating habits, and lifestyle. Keeping in mind your pet’s age, health status, and breed, we can learn more about your pet’s allergies, what nutrients they may be missing and what works best for their body. From there, we can create a well-balanced and nutritious feeding schedule so they can feel and look their best at all times.
What food should I avoid feeding my pet?
If you’re unsure about what not to feed your pet, our veterinarians would be happy to discuss this with you during one of your consultations. We all love to sneak our pets a little bit of our food during meals, but some human foods can be dangerous and cause health problems for your pet. This includes foods such as:
- Milk and dairy products
- Raw meat, fish, and eggs
- Garlic and onions
- Chocolate and caffeine
- Grapes and raisins
