For pets, there’s nothing more exciting than wandering off on a new adventure. But for pet owners, there’s nothing more worrying than not knowing where they are. Should your pet ever get lost, microchipping helps reunite you with your pet. As a permanent form of ID, your pet can easily be identified and returned home to you. To get your pet microchipped, call us at 403-242-0045.
Can I track my pet?
A pet microchip is a grain-sized device that, when scanned, contains your most recent contact information and your pet’s medical history. This is why it is important to keep your contact information up-to-date so you can easily be contacted should your pet get lost. Once the microchip is implanted, you cannot track your pet’s location in real-time as it is not a GPS tracker. The microchip needs to be scanned by the veterinary clinic or animal shelter where your pet is brought in so that you may be contacted.
How do you implant the microchip?
Implanting the microchip is a relatively quick, safe, and painless procedure for pets. Using a small needle, the microchip is implanted under your pet’s skin, usually between their shoulder blades. Your pet may feel a slight pinch, but our team will ensure they feel calm and comfortable throughout the procedure. Once implanted, we will then scan the microchip to test if it’s reading correctly and will update the information on your pet’s device.
